The Acid Bar
The Acid Bar was developed in collaboration with artist Tessa Lynch for presentation at SWG3, Glasgow. The project formed part of Lynch's wider exploration of material transformation, performativity and the social rituals embedded within utilitarian objects and spaces.
Executed in Jesmonite, the work required a finely balanced approach to form, surface and fabrication, allowing the material to operate simultaneously as sculpture, infrastructure and prop. Design development focused on achieving clarity and consistency across repeated elements, while accommodating the physical demands of use and interaction within a live event and exhibition environment.
The completed installation sits between artwork and functional setting, supporting Lynch's conceptual framework through carefully resolved material decisions. The project reflects a design-led approach to artist collaboration in which fabrication, material behaviour and spatial context are treated as integral to the work's meaning and reception.
