Skien Dial
Commissioned by RSPB Loch Lomond, Skien Dial is a permanent outdoor sculpture created by artist Hannah Imlach. Installed in 2022, the work forms part of the site's ongoing commitment to connecting visitors with the unique ecology and seasonal rhythms of Loch Lomond.
Fabricated by Sculpture & Design, the sculpture has been designed to respond directly to the movement of the sun. Its form enables viewers to predict the seasonal arrival and departure of some of Loch Lomond's rarest geese, aligning sculptural elements with key solar positions throughout the year. Through this interaction of light, landscape, and geometry, the Skien Dial offers both a contemplative experience and an accessible introduction to natural cycles.
The piece integrates environmental awareness with contemporary sculpture, encouraging visitors to observe, reflect, and connect more deeply with the protected wetland habitat of RSPB Loch Lomond.
