Mar Lodge
Sculpture & Design were commissioned by the National Trust for Scotland to support ongoing visitor experience improvements at the historic Mar Lodge Estate, located near Braemar in Aberdeenshire. The estate is one of Scotland's most significant heritage landscapes, closely associated with the Victorian era. Notably, Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone for the present Mar Lodge in 1895, reflecting the royal family's longstanding connection to the area.
As part of the project, we manufactured and installed a series of robust, high-quality interpretation panels designed to help visitors engage with the estate's natural and cultural heritage. Built for longevity and outdoor resilience, the panels support NTS's commitment to enhancing public understanding of this historically rich site.
We also crafted a substantial timber table using locally felled Douglas Fir, selected to reflect the estate's woodland character and the Trust's emphasis on sustainable, locally sourced materials. The table was designed, fabricated, and installed by our team to achieve both practicality and aesthetic harmony within its natural surroundings.
This project continues our long collaboration with heritage organisations, delivering durable, sensitive design solutions tailored to Scotland's most treasured landscapes.
