Charlotte Square
Sculpture & Design were commissioned by Thomas Johnstone to create a set of bespoke planters for a prestigious property in Charlotte Square, Edinburgh. The brief required a refined, durable solution that would complement the Georgian architecture of the square while providing a welcoming, contemporary entrance feature.
The planters were fabricated in mild steel and finished with a high quality powder-coated surface, ensuring excellent durability, weather resistance, and a crisp, clean appearance suited to the historic setting. This material choice allowed us to achieve precise lines and a robust structure capable of withstanding the demands of a busy entranceway.
Working closely with the contractor, we paid meticulous attention to the fabrication process, from steel preparation and welding accuracy to the final coating specification, ensuring a consistent, long-lasting finish.
Installed in 2024, the planters now frame the entrance, enhancing the property's visual presence and contributing to the wider streetscape of one of Edinburgh's most iconic locations. This project reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, thoughtful detailing, and creating functional design solutions that sit comfortably within sensitive architectural contexts.
