Dumbarton Underpass
Commissioned by West Dunbartonshire Council, this project forms part of the wider Connecting Dumbarton Public Realm Improvements, bringing new visual identity and storytelling to the underpass environment.
Working with artist Hamish Bigg, Sculpture & Design fabricated a series of robust, visually engaging interpretation panels designed to enhance the pedestrian experience and celebrate local heritage. The panels were engineered using aluminium, steel, and polycarbonate, chosen for their durability, weather resistance, and ability to hold crisp graphic detail in a busy public setting.
Installed in 2024, the artworks help to create a safer, more welcoming, and culturally expressive route through Dumbarton's urban network, contributing to the transformation of everyday public spaces into meaningful points of connection.
