Are We Here
Commissioned by Kevin Callaghan for the Sky Arts competition programme Landmark, Are We Here is a striking 4.6-metre-tall sculpture fabricated in painted stainless steel. Created in 2022, the work was developed for Callaghan's entry to the televised public-art competition, which invited artists to propose large-scale pieces celebrating local identity and creativity.
Sculpture & Design worked closely with Callaghan to realise the ambitious form at competition scale, providing full fabrication expertise in metalwork, surface finishing, and structural assembly. The sculpture's clean geometry and imposing vertical presence were designed to create a sense of both arrival and questioning, aligning with the conceptual themes behind the work.
Although Callaghan did not ultimately win the competition, Are We Here stands as a significant collaborative achievement, an example of bold sculptural engineering executed to an exceptionally high standard under the time constraints and visibility of a national broadcast project.
