Windrush Square, Brixton
Sculpture & Design were commissioned by Gross Max Landscape Architects to design and deliver bespoke painted steel elements for Windrush Square, a key public space in the heart of Brixton.
Forming part of a wider landscape and public realm project, the work required a robust and carefully detailed approach to fabrication, responding to the scale, intensity and civic importance of the site. Painted steel was selected for its structural performance, durability and visual presence, with careful attention given to finish, proportion and long-term resilience in a busy urban environment.
The completed elements contribute to the identity, usability and durability of the square, reflecting a design-led approach grounded in material understanding and close collaboration within complex public realm contexts.
