Helix Orb, Helix Park
2025
The Helix Orb is a striking piece of contemporary public art located within Helix Park, Falkirk—a landmark destination best known for the iconic Kelpies. Commissioned by Falkirk Council as part of the park’s ongoing commitment to creativity and placemaking, the Orb adds a distinctive focal point to the green space.
Crafted from weathered steel (Corten), the Orb’s warm, rust-like patina harmonises with the natural surroundings while offering durability against Scotland’s climate. Its geometric faceted design evokes themes of modernity and precision, contrasting with the organic curves of the landscape. The sculpture sits at the centre of a series of concentric circular paths, symbolizing connection and unity, key principles behind the Helix project, which was created to link communities and celebrate transformation.
Positioned near the lagoon and walking trails, the Helix Orb invites visitors to pause, reflect, and engage with the park’s artistic narrative. While smaller than the towering Kelpies, it complements the park’s ethos of blending nature, engineering, and art.
